1996-1998:

1996 saw the introduction of the new 4.6L engine. The mighty 5.0L had been around since the 1960's, but since emissions requirements grew stricter, Ford needed a more eco-friendly engine. The modular design still used has been a hit. This motor is very strong and loves boost from a turbo or supercharger. Unlike its predecessor, its aluminum block could handle much more power than the 5.0L's iron block.
